Play around with flavors as you wish. To the 5 ingredient base
- add Tahini for a tahini-yogurt sauce
- add mayonnaise to make it more creamy for burgers, hot dogs and pita sandwiches
- Add a spoonful of harissa to make it spicy!
- Use vegan yogurt to make it vegan.
Easy, 5 ingredient middle eastern yogurt sauce
Use it as a dipping, topping or even as a salad dressing!
Ingredients
- ¼ cup yogurt
- 1 clove garlic grated or mashed into a paste
- 1 tsp fresh mint or ¼ tsp dry
- ½ tsp fresh dill or ¼ tsp dry
- ½ tsp lemon/lime juice
- â…› cup water if needed
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tsp tahini (middle eastern sesame paste) optional or 2 tsp mayonnaise optional
Instructions
- Take yogurt, mashed garlic, herbs, lime/lemon juice, salt, pepper in a bowl and whisk until smooth.
- Add tahini or mayonnaise, if using and whisk it in.
- Add water to thin it as needed and adjust the seasonings.
- Can be used immediately. I do recommend resting it for at least 10 minutes to let the flavors mingle. It goes great with these authentic falafel.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
